Artistic text as the sign structure

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the actual problem of understanding of the literary text as a sign structure in the conditions of modern literary criticism.
Objective: to reveal some aspects of one of the relevant and important problem of literary criticism – semiotic methodology, the use of which opens new opportunities in the study of texts.
Research materials: the research is based on modern theoretical ideas about the text as a complex semiotic system, which is the main form of communication.
Results and novelty of the research: the result of the article is disclosure of one of the most important functions of semiotics: the semiotic idea of the structure of any phenomenon underlies the symbolic interpretation of the text. Yu. M. Lotman in the late 60s of the last century wrote about the importance of semiotic approach to text and study of art as the sign system. The scientific novelty of the article is to reveal the originality of understanding and analysis of the literary text as a sign structure. One of the aspects of scientific novelty is connected with the inclusion of materials of Ob-Ugric literature for the theoretical substantiation of the essence and existence of the sign category in the literary text. The article is an attempt to outline some of the most interesting and productive ways of semiotic analysis of Ob-Ugric literature as its inclusion in the general process of literary development at the turn of the XX – XXI centuries.
