ABSTRACT Introduction. The article is devoted to the consideration of the most important conceptual features of the mythology of the Erzya people as a system of sustainable ideological views on nature and society. The subjects of the study are the ideas about the origin of the world and а man, space and time, the uniqueness of the mythological consciousness, the interaction of myth and epos.
 Objective: to consider Erzya mythology as representation of national mentality in the focus of the ideas about time and space of a myth. Research materials: cosmogonic myths and heroic epic songs. Results and novelty of the research. The analysis of the texts of mythological and heroic epic plots shows that in Erzya mythology the creation of the world and a man means the creation of Life. Human consciousness is an autonomous substance and it is given by the supreme god Cham-Pas or Ineshkipaz. The universe is governed by the World Mind. Space and time are independent essences in the scale of the Cosmos; in heroic songs they are tied with Erzya land and determined by the plot. The typology of Erzya mythology is represented in generality of a number of its plots and characters with plots and characters of the Russians, Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Mari, Udmurt and other people.
