ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article covers common innovative processes in the nominal paradigm of the Mansi dialects. Though the Mansi language morphological description and inflectional model have already been highly researched, the introduction of the new archival material verifies the proximity of the Mansi dialects and identifies innovations in individual dialects.
Objective: research common and different interdialectal phenomena in the nominal paradigm in the new and previously introduced dialect sources.
Research materials: earliest known Mansi Cyrillic texts (XIX centyury), key works containing the most extensive morphological information (XIX–XXI centuries).
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time, the analysis of the nominal paradigm of the Mansi dialects of the new archival material dated to the second half of the XIX century is carried out. The use of earlier archival materials of this period allowed us to verify the opinion of researchers about the impossibility of conducting a dialect classification of the Mansi language according to morphological features. The comparative analysis of the nominal morphology carried out by us showed the proximity of the Mansi dialects, which also correlates with the results of Yu. V. Normanskaya about the absence
of clear dialect-differentiating features in the Mansi dictionaries of the XVIII century.279 Bulletin of Ugric Studies. Vol. 11, № 2. 2021.
Key words: dialectology, Mansi language, nominal morphology, paradigm, innovations.
Acknowledgements: the author expresses gratitude to Yu. V. Normanskaya, Doctor of Philologcal Sciences, for immense help and to Prof. László Honti for valuable advice. Linguistic data of XIX–XX centuries has been studied with the support of the Russian Science Foundation grant No. 20-18-00403. New archival data (the middle of the XIX century) has been collected and analyzed with the support of the grant of the Government of Russia No. 216-220-05-150/14.Y26.31.0014.
