Alexandra Antonova’s contribution to the preservation of the Sami language

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the work is devoted to the study of the significance of the heritage of Alexandra Andreevna Antonova - the author of the Sami ABC and Alphabet; a practical teacher in the preservation of the Sami language. The article analyzes her work on the creation of the Sami writing, her main pedagogical ideas, the importance of translation and journalistic activity. The archival material involved in the study allowed us to conclude about the concept of preservation of the native language, which was developed by Alexandra Antonova as a practical teacher.
Objective: to reveal the pedagogical ideas of A. Antonova and her contribution to the revitalization of the native Sami language.
Research materials: the materials of the personal archives of A. Antonova and N. Bolshakova.
Results and novelty of the research: the conducted research proved the correctness and relevance of many pedagogical and methodological ideas of A. Antonova’s. She was able to identify the weaknesses of the work carried out on the revival and preservation of the Sami language by the Cabinet of National Schools of the Murmansk Regional Institute of Teachers’ Improvement in 1983-1984. Alexandra Antonovna offered her vision of the problem of language loss by several generations and began to develop the methodology for the preservation and study of the Sami language. For the first time, the pedagogical ideas and contribution to the development of the native language by A. Antonova are analyzed; archival materials that were not previously in scientific circulation are involved in the study.
