«The existence of cosmos» by Konstantin Pankov: refraction of the archaic worldview in the creative practice of the artist

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article considers features of the mythological conception of the world structure, which is represented by the works of the ethnic artist Konstantin Pankov, who focused his attention on the imagery of the earthly incarnation of the cosmic order.
Objective: is the identification of elements of developed pre-scientific ideas about being, their embodiment in the creative practice of contemporary artists, combining different types of thinking – imaginative and logical.
Research materials: the work is devoted to research on the problems of amateur and naive art, theoretical research in the field of mythological thinking. Art criticism and critical literature on K. Pankov’s works, paintings and reproductions of his works were attracted.
Results and novelty of the research: reconstruction of the traditional world model implemented by K. Pankov reflects the relationship between man and the world, the microcosm and the macrocosm. His cosmological model is built on the basis of ideas about the horizontal structure of the universe, which is supplemented by a vertical
structure. This model of the world is supplemented by numerical symbols. K. Pankov organically includes the mythological paradigms in the metaphysical description of a certain territory. As a result, the material world acquires hierarchy, integrity, sacredness and cosmology. This understanding of the world is established as a manifestation of ancient ideas that determined the paradigms of creativity and the original style of this original artist. Analysis of the creative heritage of K. Pankov from the standpoint of the “logic” of archaic thinking, mythological symbols, parallels with the works of contemporary artists demonstrate a new perspective in the analysis of master paintings. The scientific and practical significance of the article is determined by the identification in the artist’s work of early worldview constructs preserved in the system of more developed thinking and constituting the foundation of traditional cultures.
