Basic vocabulary of the Kazym dialect of the Khanty language: experience of collecting field data for the tasks of comparative historical linguistics

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article analyzes the application of the methodology for collecting basic vocabulary, developed by the Moscow School of Linguistic Comparative Studies, to the Kazym dialect of the Khanty language. Using a questionnaire with a strict differentiation of the semantics of the vocabulary, we collected translations of stimulus sentences, which allowed us to clarify the features of the semantic organization of the Khanty vocabulary identified during the field collection of material for the tasks of comparative historical linguistics.
Objective: to describe the experience of field research using the methodology of collection of the Swadesh list for the Kazym dialect of the Khanty language; to identify non-standard examples of the use of the language units for this idiom and to suggest alternative ways to solve these cases.
Research materials: field materials by the authors; questionnaires published on the LingvoDoc linguistic platform http://lingvodoc.ispras.ru/.
Results and novelty of the research: the article presents for the first time the application of the methodology of comparative historical linguistics for the collection of field linguistic material on the material of the Kazym dialect of the Khanty language. Eight types of ambiguous cases have been identified when the questionnaire for collecting basic vocabulary requires additional clarification in the idiom. Some solutions are discussed and proposed to include the necessary vocabulary in the questionnaire depending on the language characteristics. The research materials (questionnaire) are published on the LingvoDoc platform, which allows you to verify the presented data.
