Christianization of ethnographical groups of Mansi and orthodox missionary work (the end of XIX – beginning of XX century)

Abstract. The article deals with the questions of Christianization of Mansi in the light of evolution of religious landscapes of Ural and Western Siberia of the end of imperial period. The special attention is paid to the orthodox missionary work directed by confessional policy of the Russian Empire. Based on the narrow scales of missionary work among «Voguls», it is possible to draw a conclusion on conscious refusal of the state to carry out missionary activity in places of settling of Mansi.
