A comparative-historical analysis of traditional culture: similarities and differences of the Ob-Ugric and Samoyedic peoples

Abstract.In article posed the problem of the historical and comparative analysis of the Khanty, Mansi and Nenets traditional culture. The reasons are disclosed for this approach: features of the climatic conditions that infl uenced the nature of economic-cultural types; the presence of prolonged relations between the ethnic and Ob-Ugric Samoedic peoples; the similarity in the practices, lifestyle, types of settlements and structures dwellings, means of transportation, routine food and cooking, religious beliefs and rituals. Attention is drawn to the ancient autochthonous traits in the material culture and borrowing elements of southern origin. The specifi city of one of the discussion topics is a totemism in Khanty, Mansi, and Nenets.
