The concepts of “Language”, “Speech”, and “Word” in the national pictures of the world of the Russian and Mordovian peoples (based on proverbs and sayings)

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the work explores the folklore component of the concepts of “Language”, “Speech” and “Word” in the national pictures of the world of the Russian and Mordovian peoples, reflecting the attitude of these nations towards the potential of language and word, ethnic principles of communication, traditions of organizing speech act, the ethics of communication.
Objective: to identify the features of the content of the concepts “Language”, “Speech”, “Word” in in the national pictures of the world of the Russian and Mordovian peoples.
Research materials: Russian and Mordovian proverbs, sayings, idioms about language and speech, published in collections compiled by V. I. Dal and K. T. Samorodov.
Results and novelty of the research: the novelty of the research lies in the definition of the common and individual conceptual components of the concepts of “Language”, “Speech”, and “Word” among Russian and Mordovian peoples through the semantic analysis of national paroemias. As a result of research of more than 1,000 Russian and Mordovian proverbs related to language and speech it has been found that the content of these concepts generally coincides among the Russian and Mordovian peoples, both in terms of the core meaning and in several peripheral meanings. This indicates the
similarity in national values and a kinship between mentalities, which were influenced by same geographical and historical conditions, occupation, religious beliefs and proximity. At the same time, it is impossible to speak about the complete content coincidence of the above-mentioned concepts between these two nations. This is obviously due to the chronological difference between the historical, ethnic and linguistic processes which took place between Russian and Mordovian peoples.
