ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article studies definitions of realities related to the specifics of Khanty life and their peculiarities of perception of the world around them, which are presented in Ye. D. Aypin’s story “I am Listening to the Earth”.
Objective: to define the role and functions of artistic definitions in various methods of representation of Khanty national and culturally specific realities in the Ye. D. Aypin’s story “I am Listening to the Earth”.
Research materials: Ye. D. Aypin’s story “I am Listening to the Earth”.
Results and novelty of the research: the scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that for the first time it investigates the role and functions of artistic definitions in various ways of representation of Khanty national and culturally specific realities in Ye. D. Aypin’s story “I am Listening to the Earth”. The writer uses transliteration, calcination, selection of analogies and hyperonymic substitutions not in pure form, but always accompanies them with definitions, which helps to fully convey the color and uniqueness of everyday life, outlook and worldview of the Khanty people. It is concluded that the author builds definitions into the speech of the characters of the work. It looks organic and natural, as adults characterize objects and phenomena from the height of their life experience, and the child contemplates the world and tells how he understands it. This technique helps the writer to build communication with his readers, to impart new knowledge about other cultures, as well as to have an educational and didactic effect on them.
Key words: Aypin Ye. D., definition, representation, cultural reality, transliteration, Khanty language, Surgut Khanty people
