Abstract. The article deals with the features of epistolary genre by the example of the letters of A.P. Chekhov to his wife, О. Knipper-Chekhova, and wife to him. In this correspondencethe vocatives were analyzed, as the most interesting and revealing element of the original style of the great writer, and in particular important element of national and cultural heritage in general.
