ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the study of grammatical redundancy of Udmurt personal pronouns in dialogical and monological forms of oral speech. It has been established that the linguistic phenomenon under study depends on: a) the genre of the communicative act; b) the form (dialogic / monologue) transmission of information. The relevance of the study is due to the poorly understood role of Udmurt personal pronouns in oral discourse.
Objective: to identify the features of grammatical redundancy of Udmurt personal pronouns as a linguistic phenomenon.
Research materials: published samples of dialect speech and folklore texts that were recorded by different researchers in 1976–2005.
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time, the degree of grammatical redundancy of personal pronouns in the dialogical and monological forms of oral speech is determined. Based on the analysis, it was found that the overall level of redundancy is approximately 30–40% (in some cases it can reach 60–70%; in the retold texts, the pleonasm does not exceed 20%). The frequency of the pleonastic use of personal pronouns depends on the subject of the text, the speaker’s direct or indirect participation in the events. Grammatical meanings of the 1st and 3rd person are duplicated regardless of the form of oral speech. This is the result of the manifestation of the “egocentrism” of oral speech, on the one hand, and is caused by the need of the speaker and / or listener to keep the object/objects of speech in the general “field of vision”, on the other. The grammatical meaning of the 2nd person is double-labeled only in dialogues, which makes it possible to emphasize the equality of the participants in the communicative act. The scientific significance of the study lies in the fact that an idea has been obtained about the nature of the redundancy of personal pronouns in oral speech and about the factors influencing the level of grammatical pleonasm in the Udmurt
language.
Key words: oral discourse, dialogue, monologue, predicative coordination, linguistic egocentrism
