Abstract. The article deals with the problem ofgenre diffusion of traditional historical novel and detective by example of adventure-historical stories of E. Kurganov. A special role of historic novel is defined in the literature at the border of the centuries as an experimental site for practicing of new narrative strategies. The article emphasizesthe features of postmodern poetics (intertextuality, allusion, neomythology, stylistic game, genre synthesis), the principles of “new historicism”, forming the phenomenon of modern historic detective.
