ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article presents a brief overview of the history of the creation of handwritten monuments of the Komi- Permyak language of the late XVIII – early XX centuries.
Objective: to consider the personalities of the authors and conditions of creation by them the Komi-Permyak manuscripts; to develop a typology of these documents by genre; to establish the approximate dialect affiliation of the Komi-Permyak language of different manuscripts.
Research materials: unpublished handwritten documents of the late XVIII – early XX centuries containing the Komi-Permyak language material and stored in various archives and libraries of Russia and abroad; biographies and historical research.
Results and novelty of the research: the relevance of the study is due to the insufficient development of the issues of the history of the creation of handwritten documents in the Komi languages, as well as the lack of generalizing work on the history of the Komi-Permyak handwritten tradition. For the first time, the article outlines the main milestones in the history of the Komi-Permyak manuscript tradition, identifies the authors of written monuments, indicates the genres of documents, and attempts to establish their dialect affiliation. All Komi-Permyak manuscripts fall into several genres: 1) dictionaries; 2) small dictionaries as part of multilingual collections; 3) grammatical essays; 4) translations of religious texts (Gospels, prayers). The manuscripts present various Komi-Permyak dialects, both belonging to the L-type and to the V-type. Two manuscripts reflect the Upper Kama (Zyuzdin) and Komi-Yazva dialects. In other dictionaries, the substrate Komi-Permyak dialects are probably recorded.
Key words: Komi-Permyak language, manuscripts, monuments of writing, history of writing, translation activity
