To the history of the study of P. E. Saltykov’s creative work

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the study of the history of the Khanty art literature development using the example of the work of writer Prokopiy Yermolaevich Saltykov. The study presents ways of understanding his artistic development. A search for the writer’s publications and books in which the poet’s works were published allowed us to discover texts that were not included in the author’s collections by P. E. Saltykov, and to identify translations of works into the Russian and Hungarian languages. The previously unknown text of the fable “Hey, Brothers!” from the writer’s archive is introduced into scientific circulation.
Objective: to study the reception of P. E. Saltykov’s work.
Research materials: anthologies, educational literature, and foreign publications that mention P. E. Saltykov or publish his works.
Results and novelty of the research: the article continues the study of P. E. Saltykov’s creative work. The study examines the works of researchers and critics who in one way or another turned to the analysis of the biography and creativity of the writer. Based on publications in domestic and foreign publications, archival material, the author’s texts and their translations are identified and systematized; some works by the writer are characterized. The article presents the results of the search and study of the previously unpublished works. The study provides an opportunity to representationally reveal the specifics of P. E. Saltykov’s creative method, and allows us to expand scientific knowledge about the processes in Finno-Ugric literature.
