ABSTRACT
Introduction: the name of I. Kuratov, an outstanding Komi poet of the XIX century, is well known in the Finno-Ugric world. In his work, he relied on the Komi oral poetry, developing national cultural and linguistic
tradition. On the other hand, his poetry was created under the influence of Russian and world literature. Among the manuscripts of I. Kuratov, there are notes about Russian classics, and in the works of literary criticism there are many comments about German, Italian, English and Scottish poets. Therefore the question of the connections of poetry I. Kuratov with the works of Russian and Western European writers occurs naturally – these are common themes, the coincidence of key motifs, similar ways of creation of characters.
Objective: To investigate in a comparative aspect the works of the Komi poet I. Kuratov and the classics of Russian poetry of the XIX century, to identify the similarities and originality of image system, theme, and key motifs
in their creative works.
Research materials: poetic works of I. Kuratov and Russian poets of the XIX century.
Results and novelty of the research: in the Russian literature of the XIX century, writers raised a new question for that time – the question of the liberation of the people, whose life was studied as one of the universal values. I. Kuratov in his work was in tune with the national literature of the time. However, he does not copy the plots and poetics of the works of Russian poets, as well as he does not translate them. Based on the achievements of Russian lyrics, I. Kuratov creates original characters of the Komi. A comparative analysis of I. Kuratov’s lyrics and the classics of Russian literature allow us to overcome the inertia of perception of his works in the focus of the socio-political sound assigned to them, to expand the understanding of the features of artistic expression of the Komi poet’s axiological installations. The comparative analysis also allows us to expand the understanding of the broad connections and interaction of I. Kuratov’s poetry with the Russian literary tradition.
Key words: Russian literature of the XIX century, the founder of Komi literature, poet, peasant heroes, image, theme.
