ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the problems of visual representation of the indigenous peoples of the North in Soviet fine art. The subject of the study is the works of Soviet painting dedicated to the Northern school theme of the 1950s.
Objective: based on the analysis of the works of Soviet artists of the 1950s, to identify stable and frequently recurring plots reflecting the realities of the Northern school.
Research materials: paintings by Soviet artists of the 1950s, works by historians devoted to the problems of the school of the indigenous peoples of the North.
Results and novelty of the research:the theme of visual representation of the indigenous peoples of the North in school Soviet painting of the 1950s has not yet received independent coverage in historical science. In the article, based on the analysis of a wide range of visual sources devoted to the northern “school theme”, stable plots are identified, which, in turn, are assigned to conditional groups. The novelty is determined both by the chosen little-studied theme and by the proposed analysis, which includes the development of visual and cultural studies. The materials of the article can be used in the preparation of the relevant section of the academic history of Yugra, as well as special courses on Soviet painting.
Key words: school of the peoples of the North, Soviet painting, V. A. Igoshev, socialist realism, children in art, school themes, representation
