The motif of flight in the lyrics by Yuvan Shestalov

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article presents the experience of the analytical characterization of the flight motif as a significant meaning-making and form-making factor in the lyric system of Yu. N. Shestalov.
Objective: to trace the variants for the artistic functioning of this category of poetics in various cultural and thematic contexts and to determine the author’s figurative modifications, actualized by the creative consciousness of the outstanding Mansi poet.
Research materials: the extensive corpus of lyric texts by Shestalov (1950–1990s).
Results and novelty of the research: analysis of the lyrics by Yu. Shestalov made it possible to find out that the flight motif plays a fundamentally significant semantic role in the lyrical system of the Mansi poet. Performing the function of an intertextual bond, it sets the main trajectories of the dynamic development of a cross-cutting plot that outlines the circle of spiritual searches of the lyrical hero of Shestalov, who perceives flight as a way of acquiring higher knowledge, comprehending the essence of being, and joining the world harmony. The scientific novelty is due to the fact that such an experience of analytical characterization of the flight motif in the lyrics of Shestalov as a dialogically productive creative system was undertaken in scientific practice for the first time.
