Objective: to identify approaches to the depiction of the Great Patriotic War in Khanty literature and to reveal the features of its representation.
Research materials: the works of Khanty writers, which depict the events of 1941–1945.
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time, the work comprehends the features of the representation of the Great Patriotic War in the complex of the entire history of Khanty literature. The analysis of the texts showed that in epic genres the authors strive to demonstrate the national character, through the “war – peace” model to reveal the axiology of human existence. The war is portrayed locally by the authors through the fate of the hero; through friendship, which unites comrades-in-arms in peacetime; through the feat of the labor front. In the Khanty literature about the events of 1941–1945,
along with the image of a warrior-defender, the image of a child / children of the labor home front stands out, the female image represented by a defender professionally performing her military duty, the image of a mother and a home front worker; the image of the guardian of family and ancestral history. In the lyrics, military events manifest themselves through details and are connected by motives of memory, road, expectation, crying. Khanty women’s lyrics convey a view of war as something destructive, alien to the world of women. The texts created by the frontline authors and containing letters from
the front are especially valuable because they reflect the ideological and axiological attitudes of the generation of winners.
Key words: Khanty literature, woman image, image of a warrior, Great Patriotic War, motif of memory
