Abstract. The work analyses the semantic structure of the verbs of vertical motion pitty, rakyonty with the meaning «to fall» using the material of Shuryshkarsky dialect of the Khanty language. The meanings of polysemous verbs are derived from its lexical environment, its combination with other words. Compatibility with different words is a condition for realization of one or another meaning.
