Sociocultural anthropology cities of Ugra: the experience of modern historiography

Abstract.The article examines the main achievements of social and cultural anthropology in the history of the cities of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Ugra in the period of oil and gas development in Western Siberia. The author briefl y characterizes the current state of the anthropology of the city as a new direction in humanities and social science. Indicates that today’s domestic urban studies receives strong conceptual and methodological substantiation of the anthropological approach to the study of problems of urban development. The author emphasizes that the humanities have yet to reconstruct in detail the anthropology of urbanization and oil and gas development in Western Siberia.
