ABSTRACT
Introduction: in the era of change of social identity there is a craving for existential self-determination, selfidentification, which leads to the activation of the author’s consciousness, the search for new forms of literary existence. Among these forms autobiography occupies a special place as a way of expressing of individual worldview and identifying of various manifestations of national life. At the same time the «literature of the human document» (L.Ya. Ginzburg), representing the author’s psychological consciousness, subjective perception of life, drawn to the solution of philosophical timeless problems and issues of universal human content. In this regard, there is a need for scrupulous multifarious study of autobiographical literature as a way of representing of folk wisdom, ethics, philosophy, humanism and dialectics of national culture in the context of universal values, ontological laws.
Objective: the article is devoted to the research of reception of traditions of memoir prose in the autobiographical story of the Erzya writer E. Chetvergov «Thinking about the spent life»; comprehension of the individual and author’s model of the relationship between the subject and the society; interpretation of cultural, historical, ethnonational,
existential questions of being explicated in artistic discourse of the work.
Research materials: the empirical material of the research is the story by E. Chetvergov «Thinking about the spent life», which is characterized by the originality of the representation of the triad «individual – national – universal». The methodology of the work is based on the system approach, a set of traditional methods of literary analysis – comparative-typological, problem-thematic, structural-poetic.
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time in the scientific circulation the story by E. Chetvergov « Thinking about the spent life», interpreted in the aspect of traditions of memoir prose, is introduced. In the course of discourse the authors come to conclusion that the prose writer transforms the subjective autobiography into a diverse narrative of sociopolitical and national and cultural content; he constructs an original model of the internal and external biography of the author’s self.
