Vocabulary of clothing in the phraseology of the Udmurt language

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the consideration of Udmurt phraseological units with components related to the thematic group “clothing” from the linguo-culturological point of view. The main semantic groups of words in this branch and lexemes that contributed to the emergence of stable expressions in the Udmurt language are identified.
Objective: to reveal lexical and semantic features of phraseological units of the Udmurt language, in which the vocabulary associated with clothing acts as constituent elements.
Research materials: phraseological fund contained in lexicographic publications and scientific works on the phraseology of the Udmurt language.
Results and novelty of the research: for the first time in the history of Udmurt linguistics, the article reveals the specifics of phraseological units that have a component with the semantics “clothing” in their composition: a lexicalsemantic classification of phraseological units is carried out; the frequency of use of the vocabulary of the studied branch in the phraseological system of the Udmurt language is revealed. During the analysis of idiomatic material, it was found that the names of clothing items and their constituent elements are widely represented in Udmurt phraseology. The most common phraseological units are kut ‘bast shoes’, kisy ‘pocket’, derem ‘shirt; dress’. Vocabulary related to the manufacture of clothes also occupies a significant place in the phraseological system of the Udmurt language. Among the most common elements are the words ven’ ‘needle’, kab ‘block for weaving bast shoes’. Separate Udmurt phraseological units are the calques from the Russian language.
