ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article is devoted to the ethno-symbolic objectification of the material forms of culture. The subjects of the analysis are utensils, clothing and religious objects of the Ob Ugrians and the Samoyeds.
Objective: to define the polysemy of the notion “thing” in the traditional culture of the Khanty, the Mansi and the Nenets, as well as the temporal embodiment of social in the objects created by man.
Research materials: materials on the ethnography and folklore of the Ob Ugrians and the Samoyeds, as well as the oral reports of the informants are the research materials of the article. The theoretical bases of the work are methodological approaches formulated by representatives of cognitive anthropology. The author of the article
adheres to the principle of integrity, which allows considering the polysemy of the notion “thing” as a unity of material and symbolic.
Results and novelty of research: the article draws attention to the fact that the objectification is fit into the general conception of creation of the world: from the first creation, the establishment of space-time coordinates to the “revival” of the created. For the first time we focus on the reflection of temporal beliefs of the Ob Ugrians and the Samoyeds in the objects created by man.
Key words: Khanty, Mansi, Nenets, traditional culture, thing, object, animistic representations, etiquette norms.
