ABSTRACT
Introduction: the article considers the question of the ways of designation of subordinate relations in the Karelian language. The typology of the means of subordination in the Karelian dialect of the Karelian language testifies to the diversity of grammatical relations expressed by conjunctions and connective words in the sphere of a complex sentence.
Objective: to consider the semantic groups of conjunctions and connective words functioning in complex constructions in the Karelian dialect of the Karelian language, as well as to describe the area of distribution of these hypotaxis connectors.
Research materials: samples of Karelian speech, dictionaries of the Karelian language, textbooks on the Karelian language.
Results and novelty of the research: subordinate constructions of the Karelian dialect in the sphere of a complex sentence of the Karelian language have not been the subject of special research. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that the most complete classification of groups of hypotaxis connectors in the scientific literature at the moment of the Karelian dialect is proposed and the area of their existence is specified. The list of conjunctions and their semantic features indicate a fairly wide functional palette of the hypotaxis system in the Karelian language. Polysemy of a number of conjunctions proves the long-term nature of their existence in dialect usage. The authors of the article, offering a semantic typology of the means of conjunction and relative subordination in complex constructions of the Karelian dialect of the Karelian language, clarify and supplement the experiments already available in the educational literature on the classification of conjunctions and connective words. The absence of conjunctions of consequence in the Karelian language is emphasized. Etymological analysis of conjunctions revealed a large proportion of connectors borrowed by dialects of the Karelian language from the Russian one and are a common Baltic-Finnish heritage. The practical significance of the research lies in the relevance of the results obtained for the development of university and school textbooks on the grammar of the Karelian dialect of the Karelian language, for the development of the methodology of syntactic and comparative typological studies in the field of Finno-Ugric studies.
Key words: syntax, connectors, relates, Karelian language, Russian language, dialects.
Acknowledgments: the authors express their gratitude to Evgeny Valentinovich Karakin, Senior Lecturer of the Baltic-Finnish Philology Department of Petrozavodsk State University, for the help provided in the preparation of maps.
