Abstract. The article describes the possible ways of the Khanty written language elaboration according to the notion of the ideal graphics and orthography, it presents the short description of the history of the Khanty written language, discusses the possible ways of denotation of Khanty vowels and consonants. It presents the phonemic and syllabic principles of graphics; main orthographic rules are formulated in the article. Some Khanty texts are represented in different written traditions. The necessity of the reform of the Khanty written language is postulated in the article.
